Varney is Little lety’s Wolverine (hence the reference). He’s old and grumpy, but as long as he does not shows up his claws, he’s a nice guy.
Mina is Lety’s best friend, cute, shy and lovely. The exact opposite of Lucy.
Lamia is a poor tortured soul, but fortunately her bark is way more impressive than her bite. (sadly, a centipede’s bite is really, really painful).
Ruthven is probably the only enemy Lety has that is actually a real threat to her.
Carmilla is what Lety would look like if she were a vampire… but with more brains.
Báthory was intended to be the main antagonist of the first season.
Orlok is one of my favorites characters, although is a bit difficult to draw due to the number of legs he has.
Before launching the webcomic, I decide to make a series of “teasers” to introduce the main characters, (also helped me to continue to work in the comic in the meantime). This was the very first of all: Lety, our little protagonist.
There was an ocassion in which Lety showed me a bear she painted as part of her homework. The painting was really good, except for the neck, which was anormally large. I did a sketch of it, but using the same “little bat” concept from the latest sketch. Eventually, the long neck bear become part of the comic, in a more detailed and complete story. Also is the very first appearance of Mina.
One day, Lety (the real one) came to me to ask me a couple of questions about her homework. At first, I feel like and old rooster teaching a little chicken the secrets of the farm… and since Lety calls herself “vampire”, eventually the concept evolved into an old buzzard teaching a little bat. I made a sketch about it later that same day, and forget it for a while.
